Deal or No Deal - Introduction

On September 7th, I started a new series "Deal or No Deal". The reality is that we face various temptations in life. Many of those tempting moments lead us down a path of despair and sin. In this introduction to the series, I outlined two important truths about temptation. These truths are important to understand as we move into some serious and sensitive topics involving temptation.

Temptation - the act of tempting of the state of being tempted especially to evil.

1. God does not tempt us. James 1:13-15
2. Temptation comes Satan. 1 Thessalonians 3:5
3. We have help to overcome temptation. Hebrews 4:5; Hebrews 2:28

Three types of temptation.

1. Physical temptations. Matthew 4:2-3
2. Personal gain (financial) temptations. Matthew 4:5-6
3. Temptations of power. Matthew 4:8

Examples of temptations.

1. Physical temptation: fornication, drug & alcohol addictions
2. Financial temptation: gambling, compulsive spending
3. Temptations of power: power, pride, popularity
